The Exilenova+ group released new images on Sunday showing the aftermath of a missile attack on the Energiya plant in Yelets, Russia. The Ukrainian open-source intelligence community counted at least seven distinct impacts on the facility grounds.
The strike occurred on October 25 using Storm Shadow cruise missiles. The plant in Lipetsk Oblast is the sole Russian manufacturer of batteries for guidance and correction modules used in aerial bombs. Exilenova+ stated that the products from this site are integral to weapons used daily against Ukraine.
Dnipro Osint analyst Harbuz reviewed the posted photographs and determined that two main buildings suffered severe structural damage. Harbuz noted that one building was physically destroyed, while the other was gutted by internal fire. Both structures may be critical to ongoing production.
Ukraine’s General Staff confirmed the attack earlier, reporting a hit on a workshop that produces power cells for Russian weapons. The facility supplies components for several major systems, including Iskander-M and Zircon missiles.
The Energiya plant also provides parts for RM-48U missiles and 95Ya6 surface-to-air missiles used in Pantsir air defence systems. Additionally, the factory produces batteries for Kh-47M2 Kinzhal air-launched ballistic missiles.
This attack follows strikes on other Russian defense suppliers. Ukrainian forces hit the Proton-Electrotex plant in Oryol and the Tolyattikauchuk plant in Tolyatti on October 23 and 24, respectively.
