A 59-year-old woman died early Wednesday morning in her Federal Way home, prompting an active homicide investigation. Officers responded to a domestic violence report in the 2900 block of Southwest 342nd Place around 8:20 a.m., where they found the victim suffering from severe head trauma.

The Federal Way Police Department stated that emergency responders and officers attempted life-saving measures upon arrival. Despite their efforts, medical personnel pronounced the woman dead at the scene. Detectives have classified the death as a homicide and are currently searching for a person of interest.

Authorities have not yet released the victim’s name, citing the need to notify next of kin. Officials also withheld the identity and physical description of the suspect, as well as details regarding the specific weapon or circumstances that caused the fatal injuries. The investigation remains focused on locating the individual and processing physical evidence from the residence.

The department issued a statement indicating that the broader community is not currently at risk. "There is not believed to be a danger to the public at this time," the police department said. They noted that additional details will be provided as the investigation progresses and more facts come to light.

The incident unfolded during the morning hours, a time when many residents in the 2900 block of Southwest 342nd Place may have been waking up or commuting. The domestic violence dispatch served as the initial trigger for the police response, leading to the discovery of the victim in critical condition.

Investigators are actively working to close the case by locating the person of interest. The Federal Way Police Department continues to process the scene for evidence. Further updates are expected as authorities confirm additional details and potentially release the victim's identity to the public.
