Alaska election officials set November 25 target for certification
Ballots cast via tablet or in late October precincts will not be tallied until mid-November, extending the final count window.

Residents of Alaska face a staggered reporting schedule for their votes, with some ballots remaining uncounted for more than a week after Election Day. The Division of Elections confirmed that the final tally depends on how and when individuals cast their ballots.
Precinct scanners transmit Election Day results directly to the Director’s Office. If ranked choice voting requires additional rounds, the Director’s Office handles those counts. Hand-count precincts submit first-choice results to regional offices on Tuesday night before sending them to the Director’s Office.
Ballots cast on voting tablets are either printed and scanned or called into regional offices. Regional offices began counting absentee ballots on Tuesday night for mail received by specific deadlines. The process continues through the week until all valid absentee ballots are tallied.
Postal deadlines govern final mail-in receipts. Ballots mailed from within the U.S. and its territories must arrive by Nov. 13. Overseas ballots have until Nov. 18 to arrive. These dates determine which mail-in votes are eligible for the final count.
Early voting timelines create distinct counting blocks. Votes cast at regional offices through Oct. 29 were counted on Election Night. Ballots cast between Oct. 30 and Nov. 2 will be counted on Nov. 10. This seven-day delay means late-October voters will not see their results reflected in immediate tallies.
The Questioned Board begins reviewing disputed ballots on Thursday. These specific votes will not be included in the count until Nov. 10. All ballots must be fully counted by Nov. 18, which marks 15 days after Election Day. If the initial count is insufficient, the Division of Elections conducts an additional round of counting after the Nov. 18 deadline.
Officials target Nov. 25 to certify the election results. The deadline for filing a recount request is Dec. 5. The timeline ensures that all valid votes, including those processed through tablets or late early voting, are integrated before certification.
