Nicole Taylor, a founding member of the country music trio Taylor Red, died on September 28, 2026, at the age of 35. Her sisters, Nika and Natalie Taylor, confirmed the news in a video posted to the group's Instagram account on Monday. The death followed a four-year struggle with an aggressive form of breast cancer.

The family held a private funeral service to honor Nicole Taylor. In the video, Nika and Natalie described their older sister as someone who faced her illness without fear. They noted that Nicole maintained a strong sense of hope and continued to engage in active hobbies, including CrossFit, even while undergoing chemotherapy treatments.

Nicole Taylor was first diagnosed in 2022. Her sisters stated that she initially responded well to treatment and was eventually declared free of disease. However, the cancer returned approximately nine months after that clearance. Doctors then informed the family that the disease had progressed to Stage 4.

At that point in 2025, medical professionals gave Nicole Taylor a prognosis of three months to live. Her sisters said she exceeded that timeline, living for an additional year. Nika Taylor recalled that when asked about her prognosis, Nicole responded that she was ready to face judgment and did not want to live in dread.

Natalie Taylor said her sister worked hard to enjoy life during her final year, traveling and pursuing activities she loved. The sisters emphasized that Nicole maintained a deep and steady faith throughout the process. They expressed shock at the outcome but stated they believe she is no longer suffering.

The Taylor sisters formed their band, originally named Red Roots, in 2010. They released their debut album in 2011, followed by The Middle of Nowhere in 2012 and Triplicity in 2014. The group signed with Inpop Records in 2015 and rebranded as Taylor Red. They released the track Country Money in 2021.
