Paddington: The Musical will remain on the West End stage until at least June 25, 2028. Producers extended the run in London after reporting a sharp rise in ticket demand. The decision adds performances to the current schedule at the venue.
The extension follows a successful awards campaign earlier in the year. The production won seven Olivier Awards, matching the record for the most victories by a single musical. Luke Sheppard received the award for best director, and the cast took home prizes for best actor, best supporting actor, and best supporting actress. The show also won best new musical.
Sonia Friedman Productions, StudioCanal, and Eliza Lumley Productions produce the musical on behalf of Universal Music U.K. Tom Fletcher of the band McFly wrote the music and lyrics. Jessica Swale wrote the book, which draws on Michael Bond's novel A Bear Called Paddington and the subsequent film adaptations.
The production is expanding beyond London. A Broadway staging will open in March 2027 at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre. Another production will launch in Sydney at the Capitol Theatre in September 2027. These international dates follow the extended London engagement.
In London, Sonny Monaghan provides the voice for the bear and operates the remote puppetry. Abbie Purvis and Hassan Taj perform as Paddington on stage. A new company of actors has joined the cast for the extended run.
Samantha Bingley plays Lady Sloane, while Alex Crandon appears as Hank the Pigeon. Linzi Hateley is Mrs Bird, Cassidy Janson is Millicent Clyde, and Sandra Marvin takes the role of Tanya. Haydn Oakley plays Mr Brown, Marc Pickering is Mr Curry, and Charlotte Wakefield is Mrs Brown. Tarinn Callender returns as Grant, and Teddy Kempner returns as Mr Gruber.
The story centers on a bear from Peru who arrives in London seeking a new home. He meets the Brown family, which introduces him to Windsor Gardens. A villain sets her sights on the bear, prompting the Browns to launch a rescue mission. The cast and creative team have confirmed the cast changes and new dates in recent announcements.
