OpenTable named five restaurants in San Diego County to its Top 100 Restaurants in America list for 2026 on Wednesday. The online reservation service released the rankings, which identify establishments with high performance across specific dining metrics.
The local honorees include Callie, Cesarina, Cowboy Star, and LEILA in San Diego, plus Lilo in Carlsbad. California topped the national count with 19 restaurants on the 2026 list.
Callie, located in the East Village, is a Mediterranean restaurant led by chef Travis Swikard. The menu pairs Mediterranean cooking styles with produce and fish from Southern California suppliers. Cesarina, situated in Point Loma, operates as an Italian trattoria focused on house-made pasta. Patrons can select pasta shapes to pair with various sauces, and the menu offers vegan and gluten-free selections.
Cowboy Star, also in the East Village, functions as both a steakhouse and butcher shop. It serves contemporary American food with Western elements, featuring dry-aged cuts such as a double-cut porterhouse aged for 21 days. LEILA, located in North Park, draws on Middle Eastern design and food traditions ranging from Morocco to Iran. The dining room includes a custom clay oven.
Lilo in Carlsbad holds one Michelin star and centers its operations on a seafood-focused tasting menu. The restaurant operates a 24-seat chef's counter that draws inspiration from the California coast and international shorelines. OpenTable stated the list is derived from more than 11 million verified diner reviews collected between Sept. 1, 2025, and Aug. 31, 2026. The company said the ranking also weighs reservation demand, advance bookings, capacity, and direct search traffic.
