Federal agents opened fire during a three-hour standoff in Lemon Grove on Wednesday morning, culminating in the arrest of a man who emerged from a home with his hands raised. The incident occurred on Glebe Street and involved personnel from the FBI, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.
The operation began around 6 a.m., when surveillance footage showed the first law enforcement vehicles arriving at the scene. Neighbors reported hearing a woman announce that authorities held a warrant. Shortly after, repeated flashbangs and multiple rounds of gunfire echoed through the neighborhood. An FBI agent spent more than an hour attempting to convince two individuals inside the residence to surrender, telling them at one point, “I don’t want to see anybody get hurt.”
According to the FBI, agents were conducting court-authorized law enforcement activity when someone inside the home fired shots at them. The agency confirmed that no FBI agents were injured in the exchange. However, the department did not clarify whether any other individuals, including the people inside the house, sustained injuries during the confrontation.
Haylee Donahue, a resident near the scene, stated she saw officers from three different agencies on site. She noted that while the man who was arrested had exited the home, authorities continued to communicate with a woman who remained inside. Neighbors described the arrested man as being referred to by the name David. The standoff ended nearly two hours after the initial arrival of police vehicles, when the man stepped outside.
The FBI San Diego field office announced on social media that it is actively processing the scene. The agency stated that all agent-involved shooting reviews follow a well-established process to examine the circumstances and collect relevant evidence. FBI personnel are expected to work at the location for the foreseeable future. The department added that there is no immediate danger to the surrounding community.
Authorities have not released the full names of the arrested man or the woman who remained inside the home. They also have not provided additional details regarding the specific circumstances that led to the court-authorized operation. The FBI asked the public for patience as the review remains ongoing and stated it cannot comment further at this time.
