The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Los Angeles Clippers 103-87 on Tuesday night at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California. The victory improved the Lakers' record to 4-1 while the Clippers fell to 1-3. The Lakers took control of the game in the second quarter, outscoring the Clippers 31-16 during that period. A 16-0 run helped the Lakers build a 56-38 lead at halftime.

The Clippers committed 24 turnovers in the loss. They also recorded 26 turnovers in their previous game, according to Coach Tyronn Lue. Lue noted that his team had four turnovers in the first four minutes of the game. He described the early mistakes as deflating. The Lakers, playing without star Luka Doncic, shot 44% from the field. The Clippers shot 35% from the field and 32% from three-point range.

Doncic sat out due to back tightness. Austin Reaves started at point guard. He finished with 16 points and eight assists on 6-for-16 shooting. Reaves came into the game averaging 26.5 points per game. Quentin Grimes led the Lakers in scoring with 23 points. He also recorded five assists and four steals. Collin Sexton added 21 points, including four three-pointers on seven attempts.

Coach JJ Redick praised the team's response to their first loss of the season. The Lakers lost 139-126 to the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday. Redick stated that the team responded in a nice way. He highlighted their rebounding effort. The Lakers recorded 17 offensive rebounds. They outrebounded the Clippers 48-41. Jake LaRavia contributed 10 rebounds, five of which were offensive.

The Clippers briefly rallied in the third quarter. They outscored the Lakers 12-2 to cut the deficit to seven points. The Lakers closed the period on a 27-15 run. Sexton scored 11 consecutive points during that stretch, including two three-pointers. The Lakers led 85-66 entering the fourth quarter. Rookie Keaton Wagler hit a half-court buzzer-beater at the end of the third quarter. He finished with 21 points, shooting 4-for-15 from the field but 10-for-12 from the free-throw line.

The Clippers are missing six key rotation players. Lue said the team needs to take better care of the ball. He noted that 26 turnovers in back-to-back games is too many for a team with limited roster depth. The Clippers average 23.3 turnovers per game, the worst in the league. No other team averages more than 19.5. Darius Garland recorded 14 points on 4-for-12 shooting. He was involved in five of the Clippers' turnovers. Derrick Jones Jr. had 15 points, five rebounds, and four steals.

The Lakers played without starting forward Ziaire Williams due to foot soreness. The Clippers' offense struggled to maintain rhythm. Garland said the team was playing too fast. He said slowing down would help establish chemistry. The Lakers extended their lead to 23 points midway through the fourth quarter. The final margin was 16 points. The Lakers shot 29% from three-point range, making nine of 31 attempts.
