Google sets $2 per million tokens for new Gemini 4 Carbon model
The frontier AI tool targets cybersecurity firms and claims top rankings on key defense benchmarks.

Google announced the release of Gemini 4 Carbon on Wednesday, setting the introductory price at $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens. The company states the model is currently available to a select group of cybersecurity defense companies.
The new model holds the top position on the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index v5.0, ranking above Claude Opus 5.5 and GPT-6 Astra. Google reports that Carbon outperforms leading systems from OpenAI and Anthropic on several other performance measures.
Two specific benchmarks support the security claims. Carbon ranks first on SEC-bench Pro, a test for discovering real-world bugs, and leads on ExploitGym, which evaluates a model's ability to create working exploits. The company describes these results as a major step forward in cyberdefense capabilities.
Carbon builds on the Argon model, which Google released earlier this month. Internal teams report that the new system can run for days to complete complex, multi-step engineering tasks. Google says the model avoids shortcuts and resists prompt injection attacks more effectively than its predecessor.
The company emphasizes transparency, noting that Carbon produces unsupported claims at half the rate of Argon. Availability will expand over time to additional partners in Google's Fairwind Program. The pricing structure mirrors the launch rate of the previous model, which Google calls competitive.
