Rapper Jeezy and television host Jeannie Mai are ending their marriage after a little more than two years. Jeezy filed for divorce on Thursday, according to legal documents submitted in Fulton County Superior Court in Georgia.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution was the first to report the filing on Friday. The paper identified the filer as Jeezy, whose legal name is Jay Wayne Jenkins. At 45, he is asking for joint legal custody of the couple's daughter, Monaco, who was born in January 2022.

The two were reportedly already separated before the paperwork was filed, and they are said to have a prenuptial agreement in place.

A post on Jeezy's Instagram account on Thursday appeared to hint at the split. Its caption read, "Too focused on who I'm becoming to focus on who's not coming with me." Many commenters speculated that the message was aimed at his soon-to-be ex-wife.

According to reports, the pair first crossed paths when Jeezy appeared as a guest on Mai's talk show "The Real," though they did not start dating until years afterward. They made their first public appearance as a couple at the inaugural SnoBall Gala in Atlanta in 2019. They married in March 2021 at their Atlanta home, during the COVID-19 lockdown.

Mai won an Emmy Award in 2018 for co-hosting the nationally syndicated daytime show. She was previously married for 10 years to Freddy Harteis, host of "The Hollywood Hunter," and the two divorced in 2018. Jeezy had never been married before Mai, but he has three children from earlier relationships.

The filing comes shortly after what appeared to be a show of support from Mai. Last week, she posted a video of herself and 20-month-old Monaco congratulating Jeezy on becoming a New York Times bestselling author with his recently released memoir, "Adversity For Sale: You Gotta Believe."

The book had drawn attention in an Aug. 10 interview on The Breakfast Club radio show, where the hosts asked why Mai was not featured in it. "You didn't even get into your new life being a husband," Charlamagne tha God observed. The "Soul Survivor" rapper answered: "You know how you want to show everybody every room in your house except your bedroom? Because it's sacred. It's like that's my sacred place."
