Buyers looking for a new full-size truck in 2027 face a crowded field with five distinct updates. Chevrolet and GMC have completely redesigned their 1500 series models, while Ford, Ram, and Toyota are offering significant mechanical and stylistic upgrades. These changes affect everything from engine power to interior screen real estate and off-road capabilities.

The 2027 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 marks a full redesign for the brand. While the exterior remains similar to current models, the powertrain options have shifted. The lineup now includes a 402-horsepower 5.7-liter V-8 and a 481-horsepower 6.6-liter V-8. A 350-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder and a 305-horsepower diesel six-cylinder round out the engine choices. The diesel option offers the best fuel economy. Depending on the configuration, the truck can tow up to 13,700 pounds and carry a payload of 2,340 pounds.

Inside the new Silverado, the interior has been reworked to include up to 60 inches of screens. New driver-assistance technology is also available. The truck will be sold in regular, extended, and crew cab styles across seven trim levels, ranging from the Work Truck to the High Country and ZR2. The starting price for the 2027 model is $41,395, including destination charges.

Ford is updating the 2027 F-150 with a new standard turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 engine. Ford states this engine delivers peak torque sooner than the previous 2.7-liter V-6, which should improve acceleration from a stop. The optional 5.0-liter V-8 is now available across a wider range of trims. Ford is also introducing a new F-150 Carhartt model based on the XLT trim, featuring rugged interior materials. Lower-priced versions of the Tremor and Raptor off-road models are also arriving. The BlueCruise hands-free driving system has been updated to function while towing. The estimated starting price is $40,500.

The 2027 GMC Sierra 1500 shares its platform and powertrains with the Chevrolet Silverado but positions itself as a premium option. It features slightly lower towing and payload capacities than the Chevy. The Sierra offers an available three-screen dashboard setup that includes a 12.2-inch driver display, a 16.3-inch center touchscreen, and an 11.5-inch passenger screen. An optional Multi-Flex center console allows the interior to be configured as a flat work surface for laptops or meals. The starting price for the Sierra is $51,295.

Ram is introducing two new versions of the 1500 for 2027. The Rumble Bee is a performance-focused truck with a wide-body design and a choice of three V-8 engines. The top-tier SRT Rumble Bee features a supercharged 6.2-liter engine producing 777 horsepower. Ram quotes a top speed of 170 mph for this model. The SRT TRX returns with the same 777-horsepower engine, a reworked suspension, and a more comfortable interior. The starting price for the Ram 1500 is $45,370.

Toyota is refining the Tundra with updated styling and a new Trailhunter model designed for overlanding. The Trailhunter includes all-terrain tires, a tuned suspension, and underbody skid plates. A new Honeycomb color option is available for the TRD Pro. Inside, a next-generation infotainment system with a standard 14-inch touchscreen replaces the current unit. The driver-assistance package has also gained improved detection capabilities. The estimated starting price for the 2027 Tundra is $44,000.
